Eurovision 2026 Each-Way Betting Guide — Why Betfred's Top-4 Terms Beat Every UK Rival

Each-way is the most underused Eurovision bet. Betfred pays 1/4 odds for top-4 finish — better than every UK rival. The maths with concrete examples on Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.

Why This Guide Exists

Each-way is mathematically superior to straight outright on any Eurovision selection priced 8/1 or longer.

Betfred's 1/4 odds for top-4 is the best each-way structure in UK Eurovision betting. Pays out on 4th place where Bet365, William Hill, and Sky Bet pay nothing.

Most UK punters approach Eurovision the same way they approach the Grand National — pick a horse, back it to win, hope. But Eurovision is a far better each-way market than a horse race, because the favourite has under 35% implied win probability and there are 25 other acts competing for 2nd, 3rd, and (on Betfred) 4th-place payouts. Each-way is where the real value sits.

This guide covers: what each-way means in plain English, why Betfred's top-4 terms matter so much, the exact maths on three live examples for tonight's Vienna final, and the three situations where each-way is the wrong bet.

What is an each-way bet?

What is an each-way bet — one slip split in two: WIN half pays full odds (14/1), PLACE half pays 1/4 odds (3.5/1) for top-4 finish at Betfred. £10 each-way = £20 total stake (2 bets in 1)

An each-way bet is two bets on one slip. Half your stake goes on the selection to win at full odds; the other half goes on the selection to "place" — meaning finish in a pre-defined position range, paid at a fraction of the win odds.

For Eurovision at Betfred, the structure is:

  • Win half: Full quoted odds (e.g. 14/1 on Denmark).
  • Place half: Pays for top-4 finish at 1/4 (one quarter) of the win odds (so 14/1 becomes 7/2 for the place).

You can also "each-way double" or each-way accumulator — same logic, more legs — but for Eurovision the single each-way is overwhelmingly the right structure.

Why "top-4" beats "top-3"

Why top-4 matters — 2021 France (25/1, 4th): Betfred +£42.50 vs Bet365 -£10; 2023 Israel (14/1, 4th): Betfred +£22.50 vs Bet365 -£10; 2025 Italy (8/1, 4th): Betfred +£10 vs Bet365 -£10. Same picks, +£75 vs -£30 across 3 contests

Bet365, William Hill, Sky Bet, and Paddy Power all pay each-way only for top-3 finishes. Betfred pays for top-4. That single position difference has been worth real money in 3 of the last 5 Eurovision finals:

Year 4th place country Pre-show odds £10 EW on Betfred £10 EW on Bet365
2021France25/1+£42.50-£10
2023Israel14/1+£22.50-£10
2025Italy8/1+£10-£10

Three contests, three 4th-place finishes that paid out at Betfred and lost at every other major UK book. Across these three contests the Betfred each-way bettor was +£75, the Bet365 each-way bettor was -£30. Same picks, same stakes, vastly different outcomes.

Three live examples for tonight

3 each-way examples for Vienna 2026 with £10 stake (Betfred 1/4 top-4): Denmark 14/1 win £175/top-4 £25/lose £20; Sweden 11/2 win £68.75/top-4 £3.75/lose £20; Norway 16/1 win £200/top-4 £30/lose £20

Example 1: Denmark each-way at 14/1 (£10 stake = £20 total bet)

If Denmark WINS:

Win half: £10 × 14 + £10 stake back = £150
Place half: £10 × 3.5 + £10 stake back = £45
Total return: £195. Profit: £175.

If Denmark finishes TOP-4 (not winning):

Win half: £0 loss
Place half: £10 × 3.5 + £10 stake back = £45
Total return: £45. Profit: £25.

If Denmark finishes 5th or worse:

Both halves lose. Total loss: £20.

Example 2: Sweden each-way at 11/2 (£10 stake = £20 total bet)

If Sweden WINS:

Win half: £10 × 5.5 + £10 stake back = £65
Place half: £10 × 1.375 + £10 stake back = £23.75
Total return: £88.75. Profit: £68.75.

If Sweden finishes TOP-4 (not winning):

Win half lost. Place half pays £23.75. Net profit: £3.75.

Sweden each-way at 11/2 is the textbook value bet for tonight. Sweden is genuinely the most credible Finland challenger, last year's silver medallist, and almost guaranteed to finish top-5. Even a 4th-place finish breaks roughly even — you keep the upside without ruinous downside.

Example 3: Norway each-way at 16/1 (£10 stake = £20 total bet)

If Norway WINS:

Win half: £10 × 16 + £10 = £170
Place half: £10 × 4 + £10 = £50
Total return: £220. Profit: £200.

If Norway finishes TOP-4:

Place half pays £50. Net profit: £30.

Norway is the "if it hits, it hits big" each-way play. Pre-show price suggests bookmakers see them at ~6% probability — but their semi-final performance was stronger than that price implied, and if they drew a late running-order slot, the case strengthens.

When each-way is the WRONG bet

  1. Short-price favourites (under 4/1). Each-way on Finland at 11/5 is dilutive — half your stake goes on a low-payout place bet. Just bet Finland top-3 outright at 4/9 instead; that's a clean place market.
  2. Massive longshots (66/1+). Place returns get tiny (1/4 of 66/1 is still only 16.5/1), and the win probability is genuinely close to zero. Save the stake for one of the mid-priced acts.
  3. Books that pay 1/5 top-3. If you're stuck on Sky Bet, Coral, or William Hill with 1/5 odds and top-3 only, the each-way maths break down. Switch books — Betfred for Eurovision is genuinely a different product.

How to place an each-way bet at Betfred

  1. Open Betfred's Eurovision page: viksaffiliates.com/go/betfred
  2. Find the "Outright winner" market and add your selection to the betslip.
  3. On the betslip, toggle the "Each Way" checkbox next to your selection.
  4. Enter your stake. The slip will show your total cost as 2 × your stake (one stake for win, one for place).
  5. Confirm the each-way terms in the betslip (should show "1/4 odds top 4 places" for Eurovision outright). Place the bet.
