Polymarket Referral Code 2026: What You Actually Get

A Polymarket referral code pays whoever shared it, not you. We read all four programmes: the US welcome credit drops from $50 to $25 on 1 October 2026.

Affiliate disclosure: contains affiliate links; we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. 18+ only — see BeGambleAware.org. Last updated 1 October 2026.

Key takeaways

  • The $50 welcome credit became $25 today. Polymarket US's own incentive terms say that effective Thursday, 1 October 2026, the deposit campaign changes from "deposit at least $10, receive $50" to "deposit at least $10, receive $25".
  • It is a credit, not a bonus. Promotional trading credits "may not be withdrawn", a Participant's own money is spent first, and the CFTC filing behind the programme says plainly: "All Credits shall expire thirty (30) days from the date of issuance."
  • Outside the US there is no code at all. Polymarket.com's referral programme works off share links, pays the referrer 10% of net fees, and needs $10,000 of lifetime volume before it pays anything. The person signing up gets nothing.
  • Only Perps has a real code. One code per account on a polymarket.com/perps?c= link, 20% of referred traders' fees to the referrer, and "no separate bonus is paid to the trader you invite".
  • The money a new trader can actually keep is in the tiers. $2,000 of 30-day weighted volume unlocks Bronze: a $10 one-off bonus and a 3% rebate on taker fees, paid daily in pUSD.

Every page ranking for Polymarket referral code this morning promises the same thing: $50 in trading credit for a $10 deposit, if you type in whichever code that site owns. Polymarket US's own incentive terms say that offer changes today. Effective Thursday, 1 October 2026, the deposit campaign pays $25 for the same $10 — half what the codes are still advertising — and the thing it pays you in cannot be withdrawn and expires thirty days after it lands.

So this guide does the unglamorous version. There are four separate referral and incentive programmes across Polymarket's products, they pay different people different amounts, and only one of them involves a code you can type. I read all four today: Polymarket's referral and rebate docs, Polymarket US's incentive terms, and the two exchange notices Polymarket US filed with the CFTC in August that changed what a credit even is.

Disclosure, since it is the subject of the article: the Polymarket link on this page is our referral link, and under the rules below it pays us and not you. That is true of every Polymarket link you will find today, including the ones that say otherwise. New to prediction markets? Start with our Polymarket explainer, then come back.

What a Polymarket referral code actually gets you

Four programmes, read on 1 October 2026. The column that matters is the third one.

ProgrammeWho it is forWhat the new user getsWhat the referrer gets
Polymarket US deposit incentiveUS residents, via an onboarding code or link$25 credit on a $10+ deposit (was $50 until today)Nothing — this one is not a referral programme
Polymarket US Refer-A-FriendUS residents, code = the referrer's username$25 credit after a $10+ qualifying deposit$25 credit, up to 50 referred friends
Polymarket.com referralEveryone outside the US and the restricted listNothing. There is no code and no sign-up credit10% of net fees direct, 5% indirect, for 30 days
Polymarket Perps referralPerps traders, one code per account"No separate bonus is paid to the trader you invite"20% of referred traders' fees, no per-user cap

Read across the third column and the pattern is hard to miss. On three of the four programmes, the person typing in the code gets nothing at all, and on the fourth the thing they get is a credit with a clock on it. The $50 figure that dominates the search results describes one campaign, in one country, on one of Polymarket's products — and as of today it is $25. Everything below is the detail behind that table.

The US welcome credit: $50 became $25 on 1 October 2026

Polymarket US publishes its live campaign parameters on its User Incentive Programs page, which is the page the codes are selling without linking to. Two of the four programmes listed there are the ones people mean when they search for a code.

The change is not a rumour or a leak. Polymarket US's page carries the $50 row with a note attached to it: "Effective Thursday, October 1, 2026, Campaign A will change to Deposit at least $10, Receive $25. Qualifying deposits made before that date receive the current $50 credit." Today is that Thursday. Pages that said $50 yesterday were right yesterday; the ones that still say it tomorrow are selling an offer that closed.

Two more conditions get skipped in the promo write-ups and both can cost you the credit. You qualify "only for the campaign presented to you, via an onboarding code or link, before the qualifying deposit" — so funding the account first and hunting for a code afterwards does not work. And each Participant may receive one deposit credit, ever. There is no second bite with a different code.

The Refer-A-Friend side is the only genuinely two-sided offer in the whole set: the referrer and the referred friend each get the posted credit once the friend deposits. Its cap moved recently, which is why the figure you see depends on how old the page is. Polymarket US told the CFTC on 26 August 2026 it was "increasing the maximum number of Referred Participants per Program Participant from fourteen (14) to fifty (50)", effective 10 September. Pages still quoting "up to 14 friends, up to $350" are three weeks out of date — and amusingly, the worked example inside Polymarket US's own filing still uses the old 14.

Why a trading credit is not a bonus, in Polymarket US's own words

This is the part I would want explained to me before depositing, and the primary sources are unusually blunt about it. The help page is one sentence: "Promo credits are trading credits, not cash. They cannot be withdrawn, including after they are used in trading or after the related position settles or is liquidated."

Three mechanics follow from that, all of them in the exchange notice Polymarket US filed with the CFTC on 17 August 2026:

The three rules that decide what a credit is worth

  1. Your money is spent first. "A Participant's existing collateral will be used before the Credit." The credit backs the part of a position your own deposit could not cover.
  2. It expires. "All Credits shall expire thirty (30) days from the date of issuance." Whatever is left is removed from the account.
  3. Only the winnings can leave. The credit itself never becomes withdrawable; proceeds generated with it can, once the full credit has been posted as margin and the positions settle.

The filing works a real example, and it is more instructive than anything I could invent. A trader deposits $20 and receives a $50 credit. He buys 140 contracts at $0.50, needing $70 of collateral: his $20 goes in first, then $50 of credit. He closes the position for $40 — a $30 loss. His account now holds $40, all of it credit, and the filing's own words are: "Mr. Smith may not withdraw the $40 Credit." The real deposit is gone, the number on screen is $40, and none of it is his.

Run it the other way and the credit does work. The Refer-A-Friend filing follows a referred trader who posts her $25 credit as margin, buys 20 contracts at $0.50, and settles at $1.00 per contract for $20 of proceeds — which she withdraws normally. So it is not a trick. It is a stake you must put at risk, inside 30 days, where the upside is yours and the stake is never yours. If you have read our piece on casino bonus expiry windows, the shape will be familiar.

Outside the US, there is no Polymarket referral code at all

Here is the fact the entire first page of Google omits. Polymarket.com — the international product, the one our link points at — has no referral codes. Its Referral Program works by sharing a market or profile page with the share button on that page. There is no string to type at sign-up, no promo field, and no sign-up credit for the person who arrives.

What it has instead is a revenue share for the referrer, under terms that took effect on 28 May 2026.

TermPolymarket.com referral programme

Direct referral10% of net trading fees
Indirect referral5% of net trading fees (your referral's referrals)
Attribution windowSign-up within 30 days of the click
Earning window30 days, or until they reach Platinum — whichever is first
PayoutDaily at midnight UTC, in pUSD

"Net" is doing real work in that table, and Polymarket spells out why: "Net trading fees are what Polymarket keeps after the referred user's own tier rebate. The more rebate they earn, the more of their fees go back to them rather than into your referral reward." Refer a serious trader and your cut shrinks as they climb — then stops outright at Platinum. Refer a casual one and the 30-day clock stops it instead.

The $10,000 threshold is the detail that quietly kills the "share your code, make money" pitch for almost everyone. You can share links from day one, but you earn nothing until your own lifetime volume crosses $10,000. Self-referrals, accounts you control and inauthentic trading are grounds for disqualification and clawback, so there is no shortcut worth trying. For how fees are actually priced on each product, our Polymarket vs Kalshi comparison has the category-by-category numbers.

Polymarket Perps: the only real invite code

If you have seen someone's Polymarket "code" and it genuinely looked like a code, this is almost certainly what it was. Every Perps account has exactly one, your referral code and your invite code are the same string, and it travels in a link shaped like polymarket.com/perps?c= followed by the code.

It pays the referrer 20% of the trading fees paid by every Perps trader they bring in, with no cap on how much a single referred trader can earn them, settled weekly. The docs state the other side without hedging: "No separate bonus is paid to the trader you invite." A code can be applied only once, an account keeps the first code it is ever given, and you cannot apply your own.

The interesting constraint is that invites are rationed, which is why people trade these codes around at all.

Total invite limitWhat unlocks it
10Where every code starts
25Automatic, once the first 10 invites have active users
100$100,000 of combined eligible Perps volume
250$500,000
500$1,000,000 — the maximum standard limit

Eligible volume counts your own Perps trading plus your direct referrals' volume after attribution; indirect referrals do not count. Use every invite at your tier and your code simply stops accepting referrals until you unlock the next one. None of which changes the headline: it is still a code that pays the person who gave it to you.

What actually pays a new trader: tiers, not codes

Chasing a code is the wrong optimisation, and Polymarket's own numbers show why. The Taker Rebate Program hands money to you, with no referral relationship involved, and the first rung is genuinely reachable.

Tier30-day weighted volumeRebateOne-off level-up bonus
Bronze$2,0003%$10
Silver$20,0008%$50
Gold$200,00018%$250
Platinum$1,000,00032%$1,500
Diamond$4,000,00044%$7,500
Obsidian$10,000,000 and up50%$25,000

Weighted volume is not the same as money traded, which is what makes Bronze easier than it looks. The formula is trade size, multiplied by the upside per share, multiplied by a category weight: Crypto counts 2.3x, Economics, Culture and Weather 1.7x, Politics, Finance, Mentions and Tech 1.3x, Sports 1.0x, and geopolitics counts zero because those markets are free to trade. Buying at long odds counts for more, because the upside per share is bigger.

Polymarket's own worked example: $50 into a Crypto market at 5¢ earns $109.25 of weighted volume, while the same $50 at 50¢ earns $57.50. Rebates are paid daily at midnight UTC in pUSD once you have accrued at least $1, and only taker trades count — resting orders are rewarded separately as maker rebates. That Bronze $10, and 3% back on every taker fee from then on, is more than three of the four referral programmes will ever pay a new account.

If you are in the UK, none of this is available to you

Most of our readers are British, so this has to be said plainly rather than buried in an FAQ. The United Kingdom is one of 39 countries Polymarket lists as completely restricted on its geographic restrictions page, last updated 14 August 2026. France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Brazil are on the same list, along with Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.

The US app is not an alternative, because it is for US residents only — and Polymarket's terms of service prohibit using a VPN to get around any of it. So if you are reading this from Manchester, no code, credit, rebate or tier applies to you, and the honest answer to "which Polymarket referral code should I use" is "none, because you cannot open the account". Our Polymarket UK guide covers where that leaves British punters, and the Polymarket hub has the rest of our coverage.

Geopolitics markets are fee-free, makers never pay a fee, and Polymarket charges nothing to deposit or withdraw USDC. Sign-up takes a wallet, not a promo code.

Only for readers outside the US and outside the 39 restricted countries — the UK included. US residents must use the separate Polymarket US app.

This is our referral link and it pays us, not you — exactly as this article describes. 18+ only. Prediction-market trading can lose you money.

My verdict: is a Polymarket referral code worth using?

If you are a US resident and you were going to deposit anyway, then yes — use one, because the alternative is depositing with no credit at all. Get the code or link in front of you before you fund the account, expect $25 rather than $50 from today, treat it as a 30-day stake rather than money, and remember you only get one. If a page quotes you $50 today, it has not been checked since yesterday.

If you are anywhere else, stop looking: there is no code to find, no sign-up credit to claim, and the thing worth optimising is your tier. Hit $2,000 of 30-day weighted volume, collect the $10 and the 3% rebate, and keep an eye on the category weights, because the same $50 counts for more than twice as much in Crypto as in Sports.

And if you are in the UK or one of the other 38 restricted countries, the question does not arise. The three claims to check on any code page before you believe it: the credit amount, the expiry, and which Polymarket product it applies to. Most pages get the first one wrong and never mention the other two.

Polymarket referral code FAQ

Is there a Polymarket referral code that gives me a bonus?

Only on Polymarket US, and only as a promotional trading credit. From 1 October 2026 the deposit campaign pays $25 on a deposit of at least $10, and the Refer-A-Friend campaign pays $25 to each side once the referred friend deposits $10 or more. On Polymarket.com and on Perps, the new user gets nothing.

Is the Polymarket welcome bonus still $50?

Not from today. Polymarket US's incentive terms carry a note that effective Thursday, 1 October 2026, the deposit campaign changes to "deposit at least $10, receive $25". Qualifying deposits made before that date receive the $50 credit, which is why so many pages still advertise it.

Can I withdraw a Polymarket promo credit?

No. Polymarket US calls them "trading credits, not cash" and says they cannot be withdrawn even after the position settles. Proceeds generated with the credit can become withdrawable once the full credit has been used as trading collateral and the positions settle, and you have linked a payment method and made a deposit that clears, typically in two to three business days.

Do Polymarket credits expire?

Yes. The exchange notice Polymarket US filed with the CFTC in August 2026 states that "All Credits shall expire thirty (30) days from the date of issuance", after which the remaining balance is removed from the account. A credit supporting an open position at expiry is removed when that position closes, settles or is liquidated.

How much does a Polymarket referral pay the referrer?

On Polymarket.com it is 10% of a direct referral's net trading fees and 5% of an indirect referral's, paid daily in pUSD, but only once your own lifetime volume passes $10,000. Earnings stop after 30 days or when the referral reaches Platinum, whichever comes first. Perps pays 20% of referred traders' fees, weekly, with no per-trader cap.

Where do I find my own Polymarket referral code?

On Polymarket.com there is no code — you share a market or profile page with the share button and anyone who signs up within 30 days of clicking is attributed to you. On Perps your code is on your profile and on market pages. On Polymarket US your referral code is simply your username.

Can I use a Polymarket referral code from the UK?

No. The UK is one of 39 countries Polymarket lists as completely restricted, so you cannot open a Polymarket.com account, and the US app is limited to US residents. Polymarket's terms also prohibit using a VPN to bypass its geographic restrictions.
